isaac's birth announcement {front}
{announcement front}

isaac's birth announcement {back}
{announcement back}

i just wanted to wish my little one a happy three-month birthday! it was actually yesterday, and i had intended on posting his birth announcement here {since i never got around to it after he was born... i was a little busy... better late than never} in honor of his three-month milestone! but i did not get to it yesterday. what's one more day when it's taken three months? {*wink*}

i designed his birth announcement, and it was so much fun to do! up until his, i had only done announcement designs for family and friends. it was a true joy to finally be doing one for my own child.

anyway, little isaac is thriving and growing and doing all the things that three-month-olds should be doing... and more! the doc says he is healthy and right on track... even a little advanced in some areas. that's my boy!

it's crazy how quickly these three months have gone. when he was born, it was spring {about to be summer}, and the weather had not yet turned from cool spring temperatures to summer heat. now, we are almost officially in autumn, and the weather has turned cool once again. he has already lived through an entire season... and we look forward to many many more!

we are still so in love with the little guy {of course... that only gets more intense with time}. click here to see some recent photos of him... taken on his three-month birthday.

happy birthday, isaac!

Jorjah-Hang

i have always loved elum letterpress designs for their greeting card and wedding invitation design. but i recently discovered these lovely limited edition prints for sale in their online shop.

i adore the orange prints, and would love to hang them in my baby's nursery... they are a bit frilly, but my son is still young enough where this would be an appropriate print, i think... especially since the current theme is birds and the colors are orange and chocolate brown and cream. then, when he outgrows them, i could take them for my own viewing pleasure! hmmmm... this just might go on my birthday wish list.

and if frilly and orange aren't your style, they've got several other prints... like modern, funky designs of blue and green...

and more!

i could never tire of letterpress inspiration. but these framable prints are fabulously different than the normal letterpress products i see out there. sure, i've seen {and blogged about} the occasional letterpress print or poster, but usually that world is swallowed up in the card and invitation industry.

makes me want to seek out some other letterpress art! i think i will...

Jorjah-Remember

i don't think i am quite eloquent enough as to write anything profound on this ten-year anniversary of the 9 | 11 attacks. but i do want to remember and pay tribute to the bravery and rise patriotism that came about that day. instead of dwelling on the deep sadness about that day here {which has been stirred in me over the past couple of days because of the news coverage and specials about 9 | 11 that have been aired}, i will instead celebrate that patriotism and the freedom that we all enjoy here in the united states.
i am grateful beyond words for that freedom... it is what allows me to have a voice on my blogs and liberty to express my beliefs. this ten-year mark had reminded me to be ever mindful and thankful for all that i have and to continue to pray for all who were affected so deeply that day.
one of the great things about this country is that people are free to do and become anything they want to. they are encouraged and allowed to pursue their dreams for livelihood and life. and that is one of the wonderful things about sites like etsy... a place for people to make their dreams of creating and livelihood come true.
so today, i will celebrate that patriotism, bask in that freedom and remember with tribute through some american flag {and other patriotic} images i found on that very site!

i love each of these images... for the subject, but for the artistic quality as well.
i pray that this nation and the individuals that make it what it is have been healing these past ten years. and i pray we will always remember that day, so as not to take for granted all that we have.

deer with moustache tee

i'm back already! i couldn't resist chiming in here today, sporting a mustache... well, actually, my blog is sporting it... not me. i'll save mine for halloween. =)

anyway, this past holiday weekend, while at a friend's birthday{slash}labor day party, i saw the cutest red mini cooper that belongs to another one of our friends. the reason it was so cute {or cuter than usual... i LOVE mini coopers} is because it had one of those giant black magnetic decals in the shape of a mustache on the hood. they said they added it to differentiate their cooper from the other red cooper that tools around town.

i loved it! i should have taken a picture, but i didn't. {next time}

anyway, then i come to find these cute little mustache items via cool mom picks, so i just had to blog about them.

aren't they the best? i so want these all for my little man. well, i'm off to clean up after that little man. he keeps me on my toes! i hope you had a nice holiday weekend, and i hope you are having a good "back to work" day.

how to tell when it was made...
{via a is for ampersand}

so, i've been contemplating trying to resurrect jorjah-b from the ashes... it fell by the wayside amidst loss of interest in blogging while dealing with sadness over not being able to have children. but then i got pregnant {by the grace of God}, and i was not actively blogging here for an entirely different reason. now, the baby is here, and i'm not blogging for yet another set of reasons {way too busy and often too tired!}

but after doing some blog-hopping today, where i found such great inspiration after viewing some blogs that were similar to this one, i decided to try to get it back up and running again... even if just one post per week? we'll see how this goes.

one of the blogs i came upon was a is for ampersand... a unique, whimsical space where the author loves vintage as much as i do! so i thought i might share her fun guide for dating vintage items... she offers a free download of the above card here, if you want one for yourself! fun, no? i know i will use it in my quest for fabulous vintage finds {either for my self or for my etsy shop... which i also plan to resurrect soon}.

another blog i came upon was pink to green, and the reason i want to mention her blog today is because i loved her "why i blog" page. it reiterates my sentiment about the reasons i blog... and puts it quite eloquently, i think. so rather than try to explain it myself, i am linking to her thoughts. reading her explanation has revived or renewed a spark in me as to why i originally started this blog and want to start it up again!

i've got way too much inspiration and too many thoughts and ideas and too much excitement about design or fashion or music or fun or life mulling around in my head to not put it all down on "paper".

i really hope to start it all up with a "how to design a nursery on a dime" post... sharing how i created and designed my son's nursery without a lot of money, but with a whole bunch of resources.

i know i need to get back out there and visit blogs to generate some traffic here again... that takes work, which takes time. so i am not sure how quickly i'll get it back to what it used to be, but i'm gonna try. as with many of my recent posts, i think i'm writing to thin air for now. but hopefully not for long!

well, if you are reading here today, i hope you are enjoying a nice long holiday weekend {if you live in the states, of course}. and if not, i hope this day finds you happy and well.

Jorjah-Update

i heart it

i have not blogged here in over five months... and for very good reason! as of the last time i posted on this blog, i was approaching my third trimester of pregnancy.

though it was not as rough as the first trimester {in which i experienced some pretty awful nausea}, i had a difficult time with sleeping, pain and discomfort in my third trimester. thus, the lack of blogging on jorjah-b.

and it's no wonder i was uncomfortable! i had a big baby growing in me!... so big, he ended up being nine and a half pounds at birth!! that's a big baby! especially for someone my size.

well, there you have it... i have spilled the latest big news i have. i am now a mama to a beautiful baby boy! i never got around to announcing it on this blog, but i did announce it on my photography blog... and wrote a bit more about the whole experience here.

in case you did not pop over via the link to see more about him, his name is isaac kenneth, and as i mentioned earlier, he was 9 pounds, 8 ounces. he was born june 15th at 10:32 a.m.

i could not be more thrilled, happy and over the moon... and TIRED! as you can imagine, i have found little time for blogging. so there has been nothing for some time from me until now. plus, i'm sure you have noticed the big boom of sites like pinterest or we heart it... making blogging seem long and laborious and cumbersome, when pinterest lets you get the same message across with the quick click of a button, no? it sort of takes the steam out of the blogging-about-things-i-love engine.

speaking of we heart it, i recently joined that site. i suppose it is similar to pinterest, so perhaps it is one too many sites to be a part of... i've got facebook, pinterest, my blogs, flickr, photoblur, i heart it, stumbleupon... all these online communities... where does it end?? at least i am not on twitter... yet.

anyway, i only have three "hearts" on my we heart it page so far, but i really like the look and feel of that site, so i will probably continue to surf around there. and though there are only a few things i "hearted" there, i thought the three images looked sort of neat together, so they are my image for today.

oh, i guess i should also include an image of my very quickly-growing son, too.
{7bf95279-6b4a-4a50-a502-36c482f700af}_2
he was just a day old here, but he is now six weeks old, and he just gets more handsome every day. i'm SO in love! {see quote in upper left corner image of collage above} =)

i don't know that anyone will even read this... that is how long it has been since i have been active here. but if you do, i hope you have been well in the time i've been "gone". maybe i'm due for a jorjah-b revival. we'll see. until then, enjoy your summer!

and maybe i'll see you around on fb, we heart it, pinterst or my photo blog??

i'm not sure why paper source would be selling scarves {unless they were made of paper}. but i'm not complaining... 'cause look how cute this pom scarf is. i just saw it on their web site, and i must admit, i'm totally coveting it! okay, strong word... covet. but i do want to adorn my neck with this pretty. isn't it just lovely? so perfect for spring... even summer.

Jorjah-Love

EVERY-DAY-LOVE_640
so i recently got my usual modern chic home email-ad that i receive on a regular basis... this last one was to promote some valentine's day goods... like the wall hanging you see to the left... i LOVE.

i loved this love-themed wall hanging called everyday i love you art print by sugarboo designs {above}. while i was there, i found so many other products i "LOVE"... and though they are not valentine's-day-themed, they are still appropriate, as they are things that make me happy when i think about using them in the baby's room... a place i'll be spending lots of time... a place that is sure to be filled with love. and they each also fit under the wall decor category.

first is this carte postal burlap corkboard! {below}
CARTE-POSTAL-BOARD-MAIN_640
i can so see it in the baby's room... to hold parenting magazines, photos of baby, reminders... whatever! i could also see it in the office or kitchen. isn't it fun? i have to admit, i can't justify spending the money for it... but maybe some day i can make something similar.

okay, next are these vintage bird prints on burlap.

BURLAP-BIRD-PRINTS_SET-OF-2_400

it's actually just the one on the right that i want. "sweet vintage birds" is the theme i am choosing for my baby room, so this wall hanging would be perfect in there. in fact, the colors of the room will be orange, cream, white and chocolate brown... but there will dashes of green, black and beige, too. so i'm really liking this piece for the room.

okay, the next three images are sweet wallpaper prints that i could also see in the room. we rent, so wallpaper is not an option. but a mama can still dream, right?

BUTTERFLY_NEUTRAL_640
though these are butterflies instead of birds, i still loved the vintagey and sweet feel.

ECO CHIC BIRDS_BROWN & MULTI_550
wasn't really looking for blue in the room, but i still love this print/pattern!

CHAND_BLK&GRAY_640
okay, i think this is so darn adorable... and what i really love is the name of this wallpaper print
{see below}, as it is one of the names i have wanted to choose for baby if it's a girl!

well, that's it from modern chic home for now.

but before i go, i just wanted to share one more thing... and this is valentine's day related. rather than re-explain the magnets i am posting below {from 15000refrigerators.com}, i'll just provide a link to my photo blog post where i posted about them originally. in today's jorjah-b post, i am only showing the heart-themed magnets... for obvious reasons. but there are so many more to see and enjoy and buy... especially since they are each ONLY $2.99!

{okay, that second one is not a heart... but it's pink and frilly and perfect for v. day in that regard.}

aren't they fun? perfect little gifts for valentine's day. {sorry... i should have posted them sooner in case anyone was interested in buying one as a gift for v. day. but there is always next year!} if you are interested in buying any of these {or any of the other cool photo magnets sold there}, go here!

wishing you all a very happy valentine's day, today! wishing you lots and lots of love!

21 weeks along in my pregnancy

i'm not sure about you, but i think it's a great idea to take a progression of photos of someone while they are pregnant... to see the transformation taking place in their exterior while we dream about and envision the transformation taking place inside their belly...

...which is why i asked one of my oldest and dearest friends to take some photos of me throughout my pregnancy. i had hoped to take them more consistently, but life is busy, and it's not always easy to work out a time between photographer and subject. {which is why i try to do some self-portraits from time to time.}

anyway, i've been more absent on this blog than i hoped to be. i thought i would be here a lot during the pregnancy... blogging about all the fun plans for decorating the baby room and plans for being a fashionable mama with plans of having a fashionable kid. {*wink*}

but i have kept pretty busy with other things that have left me no time to post here. it's all about priorities, i guess. perhaps for the remainder of my pregnancy, i can focus more on this blog and less on my photo blog. i don't want to miss out on all the fun stuff i could be doing here... and i only have about four and a half months left to do it!

anyway, here are some more of my favorite photos from the last photo shoot that my friend, mary, did for me. i'm so thankful for her willingness to come to my home and get shots of me in my environment... where i am most of the time throughout this pregnancy... where i sit and ponder being a mom... where my peace, joy and excitement over being pregnant grows at the same rate as my child... maybe even faster.

hoping to be back soon with some fun posts about the baby room!

CAUTION: sappy and silly ahead.

this year...
securedownload
may you make all the right moves.

and
puppy photo sent to me via e-mail
may you have as much fun as you can before someone makes you stop.

so, i have not been posting like i hoped to.
but i have been very busy on my other blog lately.
i will be so this whole month... with some online workshops.

all i have time for tonight is this quick post...
a bit silly perhaps.
a bit whimsical.
but we all should make room in our lives
for at least a little of the silly and whimsical, right?

these two photos were from an e-mail that one of my friends just sent...
one of those e-mails that you are supposed to forward on to everyone you know.
i usually think these kind of things are silly,
and tend not to even read them.
but i thought this one was sort of heart-warming...
plus, i'm just a sucker when it comes to being melted by puppies.
it was a feel-good new years message,
saying "may your new year be {insert cute phrase to go with photo}..."

these were the two that struck my tickle bone,
and i loved the photos, so i'm sharing them with you as well.
guess that's just the young-at-heart side of me.
or maybe it's because i'm pregnant and overly sentimental??
how can you not think these puppies are cute?

either way, i hope you new year has been going swimmingly!

happy 2011 to all who may stop by here!!

this photo was taken by one of my flickr contacts and friends.
she often comments on my photos,
and i'm always appreciative when she does.
today, i paid a visit to her flickr page to find this photo!

oh, my!

i love it...
and i found it to be perfect for what i wanted to say
in my first post of 2011, especially when i read the caption.
it says,
"there's no looking back"

and because you probably can't read it here,
i'll tell you what is written on the piece of paper
that is in the subject's hand behind her back.
one word...
"regret"
goodbye regrets!

in my case, i don't mind looking back
at least on the good parts of 2010.
i had some extremely difficult days throughout.
but i also had some of the best days...
most of all, the day i found out i am going to be a mom for the first time!

but i still love the theme of this shot.
{and not just that, but the mood and beauty.}
i get what she means.
it's 2011!
it's a new year...
full of hope
and possibility
and expectations
and anticipation
and any other good thing
you or i choose to fill it with..

yes, it's full of the unknown
and many uncertainties, as well.
but those can be good things.

hopefully, it's full of change,
because i believe at least a little change
is good for us all.

and hopefully it remains full of the familiar, too.

no matter what,
let's look forward with joy!
with faith.
and with belief.
with strength... which will be my word for 2011.

h.a.p.p.y h.a.p.p.y h.a.p.p.y
new year!

{oh, and speaking of flickr photos, i put together a set of all the favorite shots i took over 2010 on my flickr page. below is a mosaic of some of those shots...

2009 fave mosaic
you can see the entire set here, where you can also click on individual pictures to see them larger. because i have a photography blog, i created a flickr account to organize my photos. and for my look back at 2010 post on my photo blog, i created a set with all my favorite shots. feel free to browse. i'm looking forward to taking many more in 2011... and hopefully improving artistically to the point where i can take creative photos like the one at the beginning of this post!!}

Jorjah-Wear + Jorjah-Wish

hello, all!
it's here.... the last day of 2010!
man, this year went by slow and fast at the same time.
how does that work?

any special plans for tonight?
i've got tentative plans to visit a dear friend's new home.
she and her fiancĆ© recently bought a condo...
getting ready for their may wedding next year!!
{which will be this year, come tomorrow!}

my husband and i are going to get bundled up
and brave the predicted icy weather
to head over to their place for dinner and game night!!
low key, i know... but i'm pregnant, remember?

if i were adventurous and financially able,
i'd get all dolled up for
a fancy party...
shindig...
bash...
big ol' new years eve celebration!

and i'd probably go out and look for some fabulous and flattering
maternity party gown like the two below from isabella oliver.
ever since finding out i was pregnant,
i've really been eyeing their clothing.
i find it stylish and flattering and NOT typical
"hey, look i'm pregant and frumpy!" kind of clothing.
lots of chic and pretty things that i'd love to wear.
couldn't you see these both
with some added bling via sparkling jewelry?

isabella oliver gowns
1. Belle Epoque Dress
2. The Wrap Column Dress {especially if it came in black!}

however, since i'm not independently wealthy,
and i'm not really up for partying all night at a bash,
maybe something like the two pieces below
would be a little more suitable for this evening.
and these are both outfits i could wear just about anywhere...
church, parties, weddings, my baby shower!!
i'll take one of each, please!

isabella oliver dresses
3. Faux Twin Set {looks so comfortable, to me!}
4. Pocket Tunic {love, love, love this one! sort of 60's-esque.}

okay, so let's get realistic.
i'm only going to play games at a friend's house...
a very casual and relaxed evening.
so i'd settle for a comfortable pair of
black maternity leggings from the gap
to wear with my favorite over-size shirt...
definitely more in my price range.
i still need to invest in a pair.
i've been holding out as long as i can...
but i don't think i can get away with
my non-preggy pants much longer.
i mean, i'm at sixteen weeks as of this sunday.
and i was already looking like this at twelve weeks...

my 12-week baby bump

definitely time to get some baby-belly-friendly pantalones!

i want to wish you all a safe and happy
new years eve celebration... whatever you do.
may it be fun and joyful and full of
all the good memories of the past year.
and may it be full of anticipation for the new year to come!

me?
i'll be drinking sparkling grape juice in a champagne flute,
toasting to my very dear husband and growing child,
and reflecting on 2010...
one of the most life-changing years of my life...
because as of september 26, 2010,
my life will never be the same.
and i would not have it any other way.

blessings on this final day of 2010!
i'll be back tomorrow with a wish for the new year!

Jorjah-Update + Jorjah-Plan

oh, my!
it's been ages since i posted here.
it's been a strange year to say the least.

but with 2011 upon us, i wanted to share
the biggest news of my life so far...
I'M GOING TO HAVE A BABY!!!

i won't go into details in this jorjah-b post.
but if you want the details, you can read about it here.

however, i will say this.
i plan to resume my love of blogging here on jorjah-b
{golly, i've missed posting here!},
and things will probably look a lot different
than they used to look around here...
a LOT more baby-related posts,
like sharing the fun baby nursery finds
and plans that i have for designing
and decorating this little one's new space.
perhaps some maternity and baby fashion posts...
something i never though i'd have the opportunity
to blog about from a personal standpoint!

i'll still blog about the typical things
that i have blogged in the past...
design, photography, interiors, furniture,
fashion, food, paper/print.
even some personal stuff.
{although most of that is reserved
for my photo/journal blog.}

anyway, i just wanted to say...
I'M BACK!
and so excited to be so.
and i can't wait to share with all of you
the things that will be inspiring
and exciting me over the new year to come.

starting with... a few furniture pieces i recently found
at a local home interiors boutique called urbanest.

urbanest furniture

{images via urbanestliving.com}

i'm really drawn to a lot of their furniture.
{the above four are all from the
"floor sample sale" section on their site}.
some of these pieces i could so see in the baby's room.
but i've even included one non-nursery piece
as well as pieces that could serve a dual purpose...
both in the nursery or somewhere else in the house.

  1. winter forest chest {i'm doing a bird theme in the nursery for sure, so i could definitely see this in there... but the only negative is that it has a seasonal theme. UNLESS... i make it work by doing a four-seasons bird theme, no?}
  2. vodak chest {oh, goodness! i am so enthralled with this very art deco inspired piece! anyone who knows me knows how much i love art deco! i've never seen an art deco nursery before, so this would definitely be an original direction to take with the nursery. i'd do something like "art deco meets sweet vintage"... and still keep the bird theme somehow! couldn't you see this holding all kinds of precious baby items?}
  3. holmes chest {this is such a lovely solid piece. like the pieces above, it could work anywhere in the home. but i like the idea of storing lots of little baby items in this... in a very organic-themed nursery. great storage solution!}
  4. carrie table {okay... not so much for a nursery, i guess. but i LOVE this piece. any kind of mirrored furniture... i'm all over it! i'll take one for my living room, please.}

...

well, this is just a quick update before 2010 wraps up.
but i will be back with some new year wishes and thoughts.
and i will try my best to write here
much more consistently in 2011...
i've got so very much to catch up on!

i'm excited to share my plans with you all
and i hope you enjoy the little journey with me!

hugs from a long-lost blogger...
